Meet one of our PADI divemaster trainee, Sahuran! At 27 years old, he decided to leave London where he was working as a Video Producer/Director in a famous gaming company to go back to his Turkish roots in Istanbul. But before we give you more details about the time he spent with us, let’s start by the basic:
What is a PADI Divemaster?
The PADI Divemaster certification is the first professional scuba diving level. As a Divemaster, you can do plenty! Your main tasks will be to guide certified divers and assist diving instructors. Let’s get more in details here. As a Divemaster, you can organize and lead in full autonomy recreational diving activities. Additionally, you will teach and certify skin divers.
While instructors are conducting training programs, you will be assisting them for the whole process. Last thing but not least, you will assist the dive center on the daily operation, and much more…

Saruhan PADI divemaster trainee experience
Everyone has a different motivation to become a Divemaster and live his dream, for me it starts a while ago when I put my head underwater and breath in a regulator for the first time. The more I dove, the more I learned about diving and the underwater world, the more evident my inspirations were.
One of the main reasons for me wanting to become a PADI Divemaster is exploration. When you learn that 71% of the world is covered in water, suddenly, as a diver the world expands by 2/3’s! Adventures are almost endless!
Starting looking for amazing places to dive and realizing that many dive locations are reserved for advanced divers, makes me excited at the idea to be able to dive in more hazardous sites. However, I didn’t just want to become an experienced diver, I wanted to be able to enjoy myself is while maintaining safety and be able to assist divers if need be. Because I enjoy being the best I can be – so becoming enrolling in a PADI divemaster trainee was a logical step for me.
What I found out
An unexpected interest literally blows my mind during my training at Legend. My mentor and the dive guides were extremely knowledgeable when it comes to marine life. Of course, I did know some fish names and stuff but here I really become obsessed by all that you can learn about a creature inhabit or its behaviour. Being a wildlife enthusiast in general means, you can imagine how excited this experience became when it comes to getting deep knowledge about marine life and their preservation.
To sum up, becoming a PADI Divemaster has broadened my knowledge as a diver but also has given me tools to help ensure that the marine life will be around for other divers to see and enjoy in the years to come.

Everyone has a different motivation to become a Divemaster and live his dream. We heard Sahuran story and wanted to share it with you! Here what he says:
I wanted to become a Divemaster for several reasons. One of the main reasons for me wanting to become a Divemaster is exploration. 71% of the world is covered in water, as a diver the world expands by 2/3’s. Being able to dive in locations that are reserved for only the advanced divers of the community or being able to dive in more hazardous sites while maintaining safety and being able to enjoy myself is very important for me. I also enjoy being the best i can be – so becoming a Divemaster was a logical step for me.
The second most important reason for me wanting to become a Divemaster is wildlife, in this case marine life. Being a wildlife enthusiast in general means I’m passionate about the creatures that inhabit our world and of course their preservation, becoming a Divemaster has broadened my knowledge of underwater life and has given me tools to help ensure that they will be around for other divers to see and enjoy in the years to come.
